Daniel Gallagher
Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Dan Gallagher is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SOLEO. Prior to founding SOLEO, Dan successfully provided executive leadership at TARGUS Information Corporation and was a founder of Telephony Computer Systems. Before these entrepreneurial activities, Dan served in a number of management capacities with Nortel Networks and Computer Consoles, Inc. Dan holds a Master of Business Administration from the Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from St. John Fisher College.

Dan’s career has focused on bringing to the telecommunications marketplace innovative high-technology solutions for voice processing, call processing, directory services, billing systems, and intelligent network databases. Dan founded SOLEO with the vision of delivering advanced information service solutions that are standards based and built with a framework that can cost-effectively take advantage of the latest technology. Dan is always looking around the corner to see what challenges and opportunities lie ahead in the market so that SOLEO can continue to provide value to new and existing customers.

Dan is active in the local community as the Chairman of the Business Advisory Council at the St. John Fisher Bittner School of Business and on the Membership Committee of the Rochester Business Alliance. Dan and SOLEO are also strong supporters of the Junior Achievement Program.

 

James Sonnick
Senior Vice President, Business Development & Innovation

Jim Sonnick is a co-founder of SOLEO. Prior to launching SOLEO, Jim had an extensive and successful 25-year career in Project Management, New Product Introduction and Product Management with Net-Set-Go, Nortel Networks and Computer Consoles, Inc. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from St. Bonaventure University.

Jim believes that the telecommunications industry has fundamentally shifted from a focus on cost savings to a focus on profitable, top-line revenue. When Jim engages a new customer his objective is to understand where they need to increase their revenue and then challenges himself and his Product Management team to provide solutions that will generate real value for the customer.

 

David Lamb
Chief Financial Officer

David Lamb has more than 25 years of financial experience in the software industry. David’s background includes senior financial management positions at Applied Image Group, Questra Corporation, Quad Mark Ltd., and Phoenix Telecom. David is a CPA who holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Utica College of Syracuse University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

David’s career has been predominantly focused on providing financial leadership to private equity-based companies. Even when working for a public accounting firm, David specialized in privately held, entrepreneurial businesses. As a result, David has developed extensive experience with venture capital fundraising, acquisitions and mergers, and the day-to-day financial management necessary for a growing business to succeed.

 

John Kemp
Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing

John Kemp became SOLEO's Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing following SOLEO’s acquisition of the Local Matters Voice & Wireless division in 2010. John has held senior management positions in companies specializing in software applications for the telecommunications marketplace and also senior board-level positions in the media-publishing sector. Prior to John’s work with Local Matters, John worked at ISx, IBM, The Thomson Corporation and U.S. West. John attended Henley Management College and INSEAD in Paris.

The majority of John’s career has been focused on developing business in the European, Asia-Pacific, Middle Eastern and African markets. With his extensive global experience John has gained an appreciation for the diversity and the cultural differences that exists from country to country, as well as the challenges this presents to SOLEO to develop solutions for the global marketplace.

 

Michael Thorpe
Chief Technology Officer

Michael Thorpe has 30-plus years of experience with designing and leading development teams to deliver complex directory and voice processing applications systems. Before joining SOLEO, Mike was a Director of Engineering for Nortel Networks and Computer Consoles, Inc. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Mike’s career is unique in that he has played a key role either in designing or in leading the engineering team to bring the first and every new generation of directory assistance systems to market. As Chief Technology Officer for SOLEO, Mike now concentrates on setting the future direction for the company, as well providing day-to-day guidance to the engineers involved with current development projects.

 

Johnna McCooey
Vice President, Human Resources

Johnna McCooey has more than 15 years of experience as a Human Resources professional with telecommunications and software application companies. Prior to joining SOLEO, Johnna worked in Human Resources for Matrix Telecom, Inc., Americatel, Choice One Communications and Xelus, Inc. Johnna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Johnna joined SOLEO when she saw a company that encouraged its employees to extend themselves out of their traditional roles in order to have a direct impact on the success of the business. Johnna is always challenging her colleagues at SOLEO to improve communications and implement structures and processes that maintain a fleetness of foot, and a customer-first focus.  Johnna is active member of the Rochester Women’s Council, serving on the Membership and Communications Committees.

 

Cathy Tobin
General Counsel

Cathy Tobin has been a corporate and business law attorney for 12 years. Cathy has significant experience negotiating commercial contracts and advising business teams with regard to a variety of corporate legal matters. Cathy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a Juris Doctorate from Notre Dame Law School. Prior to joining SOLEO, Cathy worked for a national law firm and several corporations as in-house counsel. Cathy is admitted to the bar in the states of Connecticut and New York.

Cathy migrated to her role as an in-house counsel because she enjoys being part of the team that builds and sustains a good business relationship. Cathy enjoys the interaction with our customers and partners, and her past experiences have shown her that it is important during a negotiation to understand a customer’s or partner’s viewpoint and business priorities.
